About
Having spent a large part of her own life on stage, Tara is thrilled to now be able to share her love of the performing arts with children and young adults here on the Eastern Shore. Tara began studying classical voice in early childhood and received full scholarship to pursue vocal performance at the University of North Alabama, where she studied under Dr. Stephanie de Jong. Tara competed in the Miss Alabama pageant system earning the titles of Miss Covered Bridge Festival and Miss Mobile Bay. She went on to compete in the Miss Alabama Pageant where she earned the titles of Talent Winner, Swimsuit Winner and Miss Congeniality. Through the years, Tara has earned many acting and modeling credits including print work with Cooking Light magazine, voiceover work with the Alabama Civil Rights Museum, runway modeling with the Southern Bridal Fair, video work for NASA with Bill Nye, and numerous musical theatre roles. Tara was incredibly honored to be invited to work with Opera South, earning roles in multiple operas performed throughout the Southeast. Anxious to explore other musical avenues, Tara decided to learn guitar and later began to sing lead vocals/guitar with a band for several years. After having baby #3, Tara decided it was time to take a break from performing to be a full-time mom. Since then she has conducted the adult and children’s choirs at church, taught private voice lessons, and homeschooled her four boys. She is now having the time of her life sharing her love of the arts with her students as Owner and Director at Bay Area Performing Arts. Tara lives in Daphne with her husband Drew, sons Jack, Ammon, Sawyer, and Caleb, and their dog Fritz.
